Activity 1: The Earth in the solar system

Dr. Cecilia Scorza
Status: Aug 2022

Earth is the only planet in the solar system where complex life has evolved and survived over billions of years. Out of nearly 4000 exoplanets discovered so far (as of June 2020), only a dozen rough ones are considered to have the potential for life. Realizing how many apparently random events must come together to create a living planet like Earth reveals how special our home planet really is! Showing these unique features is the goal of this module!

The following chapter from the guide accompanies this module in terms of content:

  • Chapter 1: Earth: A Very Special Planet (pdf)
